The final class of Tambor’s creative workshop, titled, “Performing Your Life- The Art of the Personal Monologue,” will be held at the Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. This free showcase will feature monologues from students who have worked with Tambor over the six-week course to develop their creative process.
Tambor, of Cross River, who co-owns Skylight Bookstore in Los Angeles, authored the popular memoir, “Are You Anybody?” and hosts the podcast, “Acting Schmacting,” has developed a truly unique style centered around his personal artistic philosophy.
“All art is personal. This is why we are calling this creative workshop ‘Performing your Life’,” said Tambor. “We want all types of artists in the classroom – actors, writers, directors.
"In this first six-week session, we will explore through the art of the personal monologue how to get more authentic, ENJOY and rediscover play and freedom in our work: whether it be acting, writing or directing. And hopefully kick fear and worry out of the building. This is why we started as artists because it was so enjoyable, freeing and well...exhilarating.”
Tambor has more than four decades of teaching experience. He has taught acting at Wayne State University, Beverly Hills Playhouse, Santa Monica Playhouse, SXSW and the American Program Bureau lectures series. His creative workshop is scheduled to start again in January 2020.
